So an acquaintance of mine did a startup, raised $1.5 million and finally shut down shop because the product they developed did too little, cost too much, and they charged too much for the service. I think in APL it was probably a 4 man month to do what they were doing since it was SaaS with everything done in the cloud behind the scenes so no GUI interfaces needed and no documentation or manuals to write. There was a stub of code that would suck data offsite where the data would be analyzed to create a report. So what gives...

As encouraging as my mental calculations are,

($1.5M/4 man months = $450K annual salary for each APL developer.)

My perception is that hiring APL developers with a much smaller up-front amount would get the full requirements deployed much sooner. I would be interested in helping with such a project.

If the prospect of not spending this $1.5M is not enough to even get a tiny, say $1-5K, bit of startup funding, there's the reason no one listens.
