The Great APLdapldoo Book Giveaway - Part 0
Looking for a deserving home for these books...
APL QuoteQuad The Early Years (APL Press - 1982) - a collection of QuoteQuad articles from 1969 to 1972.
A Source Book In APL (APL Press - 1981) a collection of writings by Falkoff and Iverson.
APL An Interactive Approach Third Edition (Wiley - 1984) - the evergreen "learn APL" text from Gilman and Rose.
APL Advanced Techniques and Utilities (Zark - 1987) - what the title says, further learning from Gary Bergquist.
Absolutely free (although donations to Dick's emigration fund always welcome) for collection at Phil Last's May meeting (May 29 - Albion, London). Can't (or won't) post.
If you want them then please message me here - I'm too old and feeble to tote them around on the offchance.
More coming soon (possibly).
No takers by the end of the month, then into the skip they go.

Hey Dick,
I've never seen a Gilman and Rose and I always meant to get Gary's book. I've just whittled down my own computer library to twelve books because we're out of here on the fifth of June but disturbed that I can't find my 1986 edition of The Dictionary of APL.
But assuming I'm not half way between here and Wessex on the twenty-ninth I'll have those two off you. Please.

They now have your name on them.
I thought I had a Dictionary of APL as well - but I can't find it either (maybe there was an autodestruct mechanism).
Either way - I just found another little cache of goodies for next month's giveaway.

No, not in the skip! If you have anything left at the end of the month, I want it...
BTW, I seem to remember Gilman and Rose is Red?

My second edition is red, and my third is grey.
Question is: What colour was the first edition?

Seriously? Do you want a list (there's quite a lot)?

The first edition of G&R I stumbled upon was ~5"x9" format.
It was black.
I believe the 2nd edition, which was ~8.5"x11", was also black.

I will try to make a start on a comprehensive list early next week. Post here, or shall I keep it "secret"?

If you happen to have another copy of Gilman/Rose (no matter which edition), I'd love to have one! I learned APL with it, so I there are lots of nice memories. And I never had one, I used a copy of the company (Kraft Foods) at that time...
